You may be wondering, 'what does this mean for the future of tklmap? Am I going to have to start paying to use the site?!'. The answer to this question is - no! We are committed to keeping tklmap free and open to use, whether you support the site financially or not. Offering site benefits and extra features for supporters is a delicate balancing act between keeping the site useful and interesting for free users and incentivising donations by paywalling site features. For tklmap, the benefits offered for Patreon supporters are currently either purely cosmetic (in the case of custom marker icons) or expansions on functionality that is still available to free users (in the case of extra marker favourite slots).

It is our intention to move forward with the development of tklmap with this principal in mind. Tweaks to the Patreon supporter experience, including what functionality is and isn’t paywalled, as well as the supporter tier pricing, may be tweaked over time in response to internal decision making or community feedback.
